A manifestation may sound like a strange concept but it is definitely worth a try. Let’s be real, we all have things we would love to see improve in our lives. Setting goals and new year resolutions are great, but how often do we actually stick to them? It’s not because we are lazy or don’t have willpower, it’s because we go about it the wrong way.

Believe it or not, a lot of our life is actually determined by our thoughts. For example, take your current career. In order to get that job, you must have at least had a slight notion you could perform the role (unless you were forced into a job you had no belief you could do!) As simple as that example is, it shows that for most things in life, the very first step is thinking you can. If you are like me and struggle with negative thoughts, do not worry! One of the best things about thoughts is that we do have the power to change our pre-existing thought patterns over time.
What Is Manifestation?
Manifestation is bringing real things into your life through the process of conscious deliberate thoughts. Manifestation is more than just thinking positively or reciting a mantra. Instead, it works through teaching yourself how to think in a way that creates the conditions to achieve what you want. Therefore, manifestation is putting intentional thoughts towards something that you want to happen, then watching it happen in real life.
How do you manifest things into your life?
- The first step in manifestation is gratitude. Although this may sound strange, being thankful for what you already have before asking for more is important. Gratitude is scientifically proven to be associated with increased happiness and life satisfaction. By starting from a place of gratitude you are already starting from a place of positivity. For example, as a believer in Christ, we are taught to thank God for our blessings before we pray for anything additional. The idea is to acknowledge what you already have before exploring your desires for what you feel you lack.
- The second step is visualization. There are many different tools for visualization, from seeing yourself accomplish your goals in your mind to creating a vision board of your ideal life. Use whatever tool works best for you and then be sure to record the main things you want to manifest. I’ve created a worksheet that you can download below for FREE to help with this.
- The next step is to “figure out your why”. It is critical to take the time to truly reflect and understand what is driving your desires. Without knowing what we desire we may be blindly chasing the wrong thing. For example, maybe you see yourself driving off into the sunset in a brand new Tesla. While there is nothing wrong with that, why do you want that? After doing some deeper reflection you may discover your real desire is a greater sense of freedom and the Tesla was just a way for you to “see yourself as free.”
- The fourth step is to break the manifestation down. If you have a goal to buy a house, it’s not just enough to believe and see yourself buying a house. You also need to know step by step how you are going to get there. A manifestation journal can help with this step. In the house example, the first step might be visiting a mortgage loan bank or saving 30% from each paycheck to have enough for the down payment. The more detailed your manifestation, the easier it is to achieve.
