Anyone that knows me knows I love trying out new salons. So when I heard that the new female-led and designed Sugar Bar Salon opened in Philadelphia, I knew I had to visit. Sugaring is a type of hair removal that is done similar to waxing, but so much better! I prefer sugaring because it’s gentle on the hair and skin. Unlike waxing, it does not adhere to any live skin cells. Instead, the sugar only attaches to the hair being removed, resulting in less pain and irritation during the process. Sugaring is especially great for people that tend to get ingrown hairs! Best of all, it’s made from all-natural ingredients.
Entering the Sugar Bar Philadelphia felt like entering a relaxing zen oasis. I immediately was drawn to the chic modern decor and gorgeous plants because well #plantmom. Sugar Bar Salon was designed by DAS architect Sharon Fahnestock, the first that designed iconic spaces like Attico and Boyd’s Philadelphia.
My amazing esthetician, Alex, greeted me wearing a mask and following all social distancing protocols. All hair removal is done in one of the four serene, hygienic, private rooms. The sugaring was quick and less painful than waxing. After my session, she shared with me a list of aftercare tips to follow. As the first salon in the area dedicated solely to sugaring, this salon has been my best sugaring experience in Philadelphia! If you are looking to get sugaring done in Philly then Sugar Bar is a must!
